The Culture Show meets Sugata Mitra

Interesting item from the Culture show exploring how grannies in England are supporting learners in India and how lessons learned are being used in schools in Gateshead.

Professer Sugata Mitra questions whether this is this really learning: “it’s efficient, the children enjoy it, the right answer always comes back, but is it really learning?”

He concludes that deep learning is happening and it’s happening  through a mechanism that is very different from the teaching methods we currently use.
